This weekend, eleven RCTC runners are taking to the streets of Sacramento for the Capitol 5K and California International Marathon. We sat down with Angela Vinton and Alejandro Fallas to get the lowdown on Saturday’s 5K and the race-spectating hype. We also caught up with Fionna Fallon, Thailyr Jaegersen, Krysta Gunvalson, Marla Smith, and Liz Anjos, who are all gearing up for 26.2 miles on Sunday. On Sunday, November 4th, Lauren Barth raced the NYC Marathon. It would be her fifth marathon, and first time running NYC. We sat down with Chuu, Barth, and Ross to get the lowdown on what NYCM means to them, thoughts on training leading up to the race, and more. Thirteen Rose City Track Club runners toed the line in Mary S. Young Park for Stumptown XC Race #2. While many teammates are in the thick of fall marathon preparation, we braved hills, wood chips, and a swarm of angry bees to come away with great results.

The fall racing season is heating up with two back-to-back weekends packed with performances by Rose City Track Club.

On Saturday, September 22nd, teammates Emma Notario, Marla Smith, and Kathy Tomlinson lined up for the start of the Reed 5K in Portland and the Best Dam Run in Estacada. All three runners sought to get the best out of themselves.

Hard work paid off for Rose City Track Club over Labor Day weekend at the Roses on the River 5K, Backcountry Rise 20 Mile, and the Wine Country Half Marathon.

Strong races and PRs were plentiful for Rose City Track Club over the last weekend in August. Seven teammates toed the line with appearances at the popular Hood to Coast relay, the Canby Dahlia Run 10K, the Gnar Gnar 6 Mile, and Ragnar Rainier Trail Relay in Washington.

“I volunteer at an animal shelter once a month as an adoption councilor. It's basically pet match-making and it's so much fun!”

“Breaking 1:30 in a Half Marathon was my goal going into racing the 2017 Houston Half Marathon. As I got out on the course I realized I was capable of much more, and came across the finish line under 1:26!! Was super excited to exceed a time that had been previously unattainable.”

“I have a pair of running shoes that I use exclusively when I travel – they fit in a carry-on – and over the last 5 years those shoes have run in 9 countries, on three continents, and in at least a dozen of states.“

“It meant so much to run as part of a team, experience the beautiful course along the Rogue river and Pacific ocean, cheer for my teammates and be cheered by them, even sleeping what little we could on tarps at the side of the road was fun!”

“I have had great experiences for all of those middle-of-the-night runs during Cascade Lakes Relay and Hood to Coast! They’ve often been freezing but I have loved the smells, the solitude and the sounds of nature as I ran as fast as I could for that leg.”

“A cute guy just happened to be at this particular race (much to his dismay), having almost forgotten that he had agreed to cheer on his friend’s girlfriend. After the race, this cute guy reached out to congratulate me on a victorious finish, and 8 years later we are happily married.”

“I love feeling strong enough to power through a really tough workout. The feeling of accomplishment after finishing is amazing!”

“My husband (boyfriend at the time) coaches some of them, so he made a toast to everyone who ran. He said something about each person's performance. When he got to me, he started with congratulating me on a new PR, then started talking about non-running related things about me. I thought that was strange, then he dropped down on one knee and proposed! PR and engagement = best day ever.”
